Prince of Darkness

Here is my entry for the contest "Night of Nightmares" of

I made Yurius/Julius with a terrifying gaze because he lost his soul and became evil when he got the Lopst tome.

I had 2 ideas for drawing him, because the word nightmare infers several meanings. Yurius is not only a villain, he's a victim too. He's conscious of his behaviour and bad actions but he can't help it because he's possessed.
So at first, I wanted to draw both Yurius' sides: the nice one and the evil one because I think it's a true nightmare to act against one's will. I wanted to draw a normal yurius locked (in a jail or in a miror) while his dark side was looking at him, grining. However, I thought that the first meaning of nightmares was mostly something frightful, so I gave up the idea of making a sad drawing (besides it was really difficult and I made a lot of sketches which I threw away u.u)
Moreover, Yurius is not a really popular character and that's why I definitly gave up my first idea, because the people only know him as the final boss, my drawing wouldn't have been effective enough.
Finally, I decided to make him looking "scary", so that the deviants can easily think he's nightmarish. This idea is not as good as the previous one, but maybe it fits better the theme "Night of nightmares" thanks to the facial expression and the lightning.

I really hope you like it as I do. I spent a lot of time working on the ideas, the sketches and coloring, much more than as usual (about 24 hours!!!). Please, give Yurius a chance, he's an underloved and a non understood character!
(Besides I would be sooooo pleased to be among the top 3!!! ><)
